Oh, the email publishing seem to fail

I tried to email to shen_yl.post@blogger.com to have my entry posted, but failed to appear. Wonder why?

IIS 5 use of Server Side Include

Server Side Include not working on IIS 5 and 5.1.

This is actually the problem of naming the file extension.

 

Any html file that wants to use SSI must be named as shtm or shtml extension.

The file that is included in the shtm or shtml can be of any file extension.

 

I really learnt this the hard way and took a whole night to understand this.

 

I created a test_ssi.shtml file and Insert Server Side Include using Dreamweaver.

The included file is text01.inc (can be any extension).

 

Text01.inc is dynamically attached to the test_ssi.shtml by IIS before passing to the requesting browser.

 

Hope this will help someone out there.

del.icio.us and use of A tag attribute rel=nofollow

Recently, I was engaged in a forum discussion on the use of TAGs in web 2.0 and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

I have put forth that social bookmarking sites can help promote the ranking of web page in traditional Search Engines (such as Google).  One pointed out that rel=nofollow is used in del.icio.us site (which I have quoted as one of the social bookmarking site).

 

I have to eventually raise the issue that the SE do not need to follow through the links, as they are actually searching for the tags and their ranking within del.icio.us, rather than the content of the bookmarked URL.

 

This does raise the awareness of the new web 2.0 classification, that is currently circulating on the WWW.

Birds Nest Fern Recipe

Recently I have the opportunity to visit Taiwan for 8 days.  The tourist guide raises an interesting topic that haunts my wife’s imagination till now.  The tour guide pointed out the Birds Nest Fern and claimed that it is a delicacy in Taiwan.  He claimed that the soft part of the leaf can be cut and cooked as a vegetable dish, and it is very delicious.

 

My wife loves to plant, and also eating “blachan Kung Kong”.  This claim is too good to be resisted.  She was trying to cook the Birds Nest Fern with the Malaysia “blachan” (prawn paste with chilli).  I am not confident of the words of the Taiwanese Tour Guide – my opinion of him is not too good (All agreed that the tour guides of Taiwan simply want to the tourists to visit shops to buy and earn commission from our buying sprees).

 

I did a check with Google, then Answer.Com, Wikipedia, and Dogpile.  But none have an answer of Birds Nest Fern recipe.  They do list it as Non-toxic plant, but always with a disclaimer that unexpected reaction may happen to certain people.

 

I guess I am stuck with a “no recipe” for the Taiwan delicacy – or is this fake tale.

Becoming acquainted with “society matures”

 

The highlighted quote focuses on the term mature (society matures and mature attitude).

When our society is developing (immature) the moral law prohibiting homosexual goes uncontested.  When the society matures, the basic moral law is expected to face robust debates over their existence.

 

What really matures in the society (Economical, Moral, Societal, etc)?   I would said, that the fundamental moral law has enabled significantly the advancement of our nation.   We need not look far, the strong emphasis placed to ensure “political corruptions” are dealt with.  We have also aplenty of historical examples to tell the destructive power of “political corruptions”.  The less sublime moral code for normal human relationship is part of this fundamental moral law.  Both existed because “political corruptions” and homosexuality are abnormal and thus considered wrong.  It is not based on the issues of lost of national revenue, or lost of pools of talents, or aggravating feelings of some abnormal social groups.

 

Even when the society matures, these moral rules are still the cornerstone for the proper existence of the nation.  I don’t see how as a nation matures, we are expected to become lax on the very moral laws that have brought us to that level of maturity.  We don’t dig out the foundation of a building, just because we have reached the 8th level of the building.  This phase of “society matures” may have been used excessively in many of our political arguments, and we are becoming acquainted to it, as a passage to compromise on many moral codes.

Great Managed to add in the Link List to this Blog

This blog site really has changed since they started.  It getting more and more user friendly.  I managed to add the Link Lists to my Blog space, and added a few favorite links of my.  They are actually all the websites, blog, wiki, del.ecio.us (Social bookmarking), Youtube and my photo album sites.  Unfortunately, the Facebook can only be accessed by login users.
